HTA Senior Premier League Proposed

News  Comments Off on HTA Senior Premier League Proposed
Aug 072016

The HTA is considering the introduction of a senior premier league to help retain stronger players within the HTA. This would consist of either a four-player team of two men and two women or a two-player team playing in either a men’s or women’s comp. It would be played on Saturday afternoons with the format at this stage likely to be:

·         2 sets men’s / ladies doubles – with super tie break at 1 set all

·         Singles and reverse singles – I set per rubber to either 6 or 9 games.

The benefits of such a competition would be twofold:

·         Encouraging a higher level of tennis and thus assisting to retain our higher level players longer

·         May also suit smaller clubs who cannot field a full team in either men’s or women’s Div. 1 traditional.

While this may take players away from the Div 1 traditional competitions, hopefully they can be replaced by other players and thus, grow participation in tennis across all divisions.

We would like you to (fairly urgently) investigate within your club to gauge the level of interest in such a competition, and to let the SAC know who would be interested in proposing a team for the summer 2016/2017 season. This will be open for discussion at the Junior and Senior Conference tomorrow night.

Dear Clubs!

The agenda for next Monday night’s Junior & Senior Conference can be found here.

If you club has not already voted on the Senior Matters, please do so asap and send your vote to Jo Casey at  senior.activities@hillstennis.net.au.

Rule changes for next season have almost been finalised, with a decision pending on rule 2.2.5, depending on the voting outcome from clubs. 2016/17 Tennis Ball Order Due by 15th August 2016

Please see attached Ball Circular for information for this year’s ball order. The HTA will be ordering balls for all clubs mid-August for the whole season. Please take into account all competitions you participate and calculate how many balls you require including Yellow, Green and Orange. Complete the attached ball invoice (which also serves as the order form) with the number of dozens you require. Yellow balls must be ordered in multiples of 4 dozen. Green and Orange can be ordered in multiples of 1 dozen. Please note yellow balls are 4 in a can, green and orange are only 3 balls to a can.

Balls must be paid for at time of order if paying by EFT. If paying by cheque then the cheque needs to be received by 15th August. We are buying the balls at cost price from Tucker Tennis and have to pay for them when we order them.

Please note balls cannot be returned/refunded and there will not be another order this year therefore be reasonably accurate in your calculations.

Please pass this information onto your treasurer/property manager/ball coordinator/

Thank you
